Do you work under the CIS Scheme and need to submit a Self-Assessment return?

If you work in construction under the CIS scheme then this relates to you.

Why do I need to complete a self-assessment tax return?

If you are a subcontractor that is registered with the HMRC under the CIS scheme then your contractor will be pre-paying your tax at a rate of 20%. This 20% will be calculated without your expenses which entitle you to a refund. If you are not registered with the HMRC then your contractor will be paying your tax at a rate of 30%. By completing your self-assessment tax return, you will be refunded any excess tax you have paid during the year.

How can we help?

We can assist you with your application to register, give you advice on your employment status and on disputes with the HMRC. We can also help you complete your tax return in order to collect your refund.
